Colorado Motorsport made a statement at a hot, muggy June weekend at Road Atlanta, ready to fight and put it on the line. The race weekend started with Zach Lumsden and co-driver Kris Wilson battling and pushing through their GT4 Competition in their BMW M4 GT4 on Friday evening, finishing 4th in their first race. The following morning, for GT4 race two, Zach and Kris once again would come out swinging, showing their competition that they aren’t here to mess around. But after a pit lane penalty and a failure of their air conditioning compressor, they fell back to finishing 5th in class, leaving them tied for 5th in points in the series mid-way through the season. Following the GT4 races, it was Craig Lumsden’s time to shine in the GTAmerica race. Currently, the points leader in their category. Craig showed up and put on a performance, finishing 2nd in both his GTAmerica races. His skills only continue to improve, and the results are showing as the team is halfway through the race season. It was Colorado Motorsport’s debut in the McLaren Trophy class during the weekend. Zach Lumsden piloted the McLaren Artura to a 3rd place podium and a 5th place overall in just his second race in the new platform. Race 1 did not go as well as he had wanted. After the AC failure in their GT4 race, the heat had gotten to Zach. The weekend brought no easy feat. Both Zach and Craig were able to bring some hardware home. The trophy collection just continues to grow.
Just days after Zach and Craig stood on the podium, the team returned to Colorado to challenge the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Being local to the Pikes Peak Region in Colorado, Colorado Motorsport is no stranger to the race and its high altitude. This year marked the 104th edition of the climb, and Zach was eager to compete in the 2025 BMW M4 GT4, following his success at Road Atlanta. After a week of early mornings on the mountain, focusing on testing and preparing both physically and mentally, the team was ready. Zach was the seventh car to start on race day. Despite facing challenges such as dusty roads and cold tires that made the ascent tricky, he finished 4th in his class and 35th overall, improving his personal record by 2 minutes. It was a successful two-week racing stint for Colorado Motorsport. From Georgia’s peach country to Colorado’s high mountains, the team decided to pause and recover before resuming the season in August, when Colorado Motorsport will return to race in the desert of Nevada.
